Longevity a Key to the Local's Success


In the 1930s, Local 874 which had replaced Cleveland Local 293 in March, 1923, began a custom of recognizing those members who had achieved "30 years of continuous good standing."

That practice continues today, and these "Life Members" are honored twice a year at Local 18's semi-annual meetings.

No records seem to exist as to when those members reaching 50 years of service were first recognized, although there is proof it was more than 40 years ago. They are honored at Local 18's semi-annual meeting in June.
